"Morning Glory", "Pink Posy", and an earring

The flower wins...
...the delicately beautiful Morning Glory has such breath-taking blues, there is no possible way I could really capture them in thread, but I have made an attempt. This was a smaller batch, so there are only a few of the larger sizes available in my etsy shop at the time of this writing. I plan to do some in the smaller sizes soon.
The dark purplish pink in "Pink Posy" is the same as the pink in "Purple Punch", so these two colors should coordinate well.
Here is an experimental earring design. I think I see a bell trying to come out! Some other ideas are occuring to me as well. This will probably resurface as several different designs, possibly even a snowflake. The thread used is size 20 from my own new batch of "Morning Glory". The pearls are 4mm, the seed beads size 11/0.

More experimenting

The white hanging out of the cool project bag is the start of the "Bedazzled Butterfly" from my book. The scraps in gold are some early "rough drafts", that with more work may lead to new earring designs. I bought the cool project bag from DS9Designs at the I.O.L.I. convention in August. I have really not done many blues in my dye batches, so no matter what, I've got to do blues next. Check out the gorgeous blues in these Morning Glories!

"Sugar Maple" HDT

Here's my attempt to capture the essence of a Sugar Maple leaf in its autumn colors. This current batch has a bit more color in it than last year's.

My "Beginning Bead Tatting" made it to the "Bead & Button" events calendar!
At the same shop, Bead Needs, another teacher is holding a class on Precious Metal Clay, and I signed myself up as a student in that one. I'll be able to make something I can use in my tatted jewelry, and talk up my own class at the same time! Yep, and the PMC teacher has seen my tatted jewelry and expressed interest in signing up for my class herself. So I'm working on drumming up more interest, in order to get these classes going.

My book's done!

Here it is!

"Boutique Tatting"

25 numbered pages, over 60 color photos, hints on working with beads, 11 patterns. Not all of the patterns require beads - 3 don't. There are 4 earrings, 1 pendant, 1 cross bookmark, a snowflake, 1 bracelet, 1 hair ribbon (which could also be a bookmark), and 2 challenging necklaces. There are detailed written instructions, and color photos with stitch counts indicated, but not drawn diagrams. This is a book for people who already know the basics of shuttle tatting. It is a soft cover book, 8.5 by 11 inches, stapled in the center, printed on quality paper.

 Available in my Etsy shop.

Book nearly there

Ok, I know that many of you are anxiously waiting for the book to be done - it's nearly there!

I had not been aware of the many details in preparing a book until I tried to do my own. So I have gained a deeper appreciation for all the hard work done by the authors of books!

The photo is just a "slice" of one necklace that will be included. It is the same one that I was working on in the last post, and I have decided to call this necklace design "Duchess".

Patterns included in the book will be 2 necklaces, 1 pendant, 4 earrings, 1 bracelet, all of which use beads, with hints on working with beads as well. Also some patterns which don't use beads: 1 bookmark, 1 hair ribbon (which could also be a bookmark), and 1 snowflake. There are over 60 color photos! Oh, and the book will be entitled, "Boutique Tatting".

I will get back to hand dyeing thread when the book is put to rest. Next on the dye list, "Sugar Maple"!
