Kinetic Tatted Earrings

The Kinetic tatted earrings pattern is done!
I have it for sale as a 4 page PDF file in two locations:
Since Etsy has done some major upgrades to allow instant downloads of patterns, I'm okay with listing my patterns on Etsy again. They're not all there yet, but I'll add them as time allows. Oh, and the price on patterns at Etsy will be slightly more than on Craftsy, to compensate for Etsy's fees.

The pattern is trickier than it looks (sorry, folks!). Each earring is made of 2 separate parts: a main motif (which could be a pretty earring all on its own) and a narrow pendulum for some extra movement, hence the title, "Kinetic". The ring under the bead is a Loop Tatted Ring. I've put some instruction on it in the pattern, but I would suggest supplementing that with the free info available via an Internet search for loop tatted ring how-to.

Also, lucky me, I received a very nice package in the mail from Fox at Tat-ology! Exquisite tatted star and 2 of the larger size Clover shuttles in pretty colors. Thank you, Fox!

My day of tatting at Concinnity

That's me tatting at my vendor's table in the maker's fair at the Concinnity convention, with my tatted jewelry on display.
That's me with a very tall, thin, dashing "gentleman" that I think came from far, far away :)
Robots of the creative, well engineered kind.
Shopper and a vendor of steampunk accessories.
 Vendors of hats and fascinators.
 Happy shoppers in costume.
 More shoppers.
A "statue" and "barbarian" stopped at my table.
I think the angel "statue" is praying for me to have a successful day :)
Steampunk hats and paraphernalia.

I had a lot of fun doing this event! Seeing all the cool costumes was interesting enough in itself. Plus, lots of lookers, potential new tatters, and enough sales to cover my table fee and make a profit. I'm glad that I went!

Will be demonstrating the Victorian art of tatting at Concinnity

Here's a mini-tute on the folded join, that I made while working on a project for Concinnity.

An article that appeared in the local newspaper that explains what "Concinnity" is, shown at left. I have my tatting things all packed and my outfit picked out that I'll be wearing. I plan to take photos there and will share on my blog after the event.

If you're near the Milwaukee area, stop over at my table and say hi!

The 3rd meeting of Greater Milwaukee Tatting Guild

Since I was running a little late, I got to the Mayfair Mall food court just a few minutes past the starting of the meeting time-frame, and found several people looking for the Tatting Guild were already there! Several were new beginners, so I immediately passed out "goodie bags" with shuttle and thread and got them started. Fortunately there were experienced tatters there also, who kindly helped the newbies with learning the double stitch.

Gail traveled the farthest, from Madison (about an hour's drive away), and showed off her tatting projects and some of her pattern book collection, seen in the photos below. She has been taking my Craftsy class for awhile, and had many nice things to say about it.

It was great fun learning, sharing, and making new friends. It seems that this guild does fill a need, and I hope it continues to grow. We meet the 2nd Monday of the month, so next meeting will be May 13.

Upcoming events

April 8, 2013
The next meeting of the Greater Milwaukee Tatting Guild is Monday, April 8, at the Mayfair Mall Food Court, 2500 N Mayfair Rd, Milwaukee, WI. If you're in the area and would like to join us, arrive whenever you can between 3pm and 7pm. Look for balloons and/or tatting in progress! We usually set up near the outside door escalators, but exact location depends on what tables are available at the time. Bring your tatting projects if you have them, as well any tatting related items you'd like to "show and tell", such as books, thread, shuttles, etc. so we can admire and get ideas for new projects.
